TENUTA BELTRAME S.S. : Producing wines for generations, passion for the land and the vineyard

TENUTA BELTRAME S.S. : Producing wines for generations, passion for the land and the vineyard by Business News Japan

In the middle of the DOC Friuli, between the Roman town of Aquileia and the starry shaped fortress of Palmanova, lies the Tenuta Beltrame. The winery, dating back to the 17th century, once belonged to the Counts Antonini, was bought by the Beltrame family in 1991.

In 2016 Cristian Zapata, who played football in Udinese and Milan Team and nowadays in Genoa Team, bought part of the shares of the winery, giving new upsurge and development prospects to the Company. With an area of 40 hectares of land, 25 of which are devoted to grape growing, the Estate produces high quality wines, very typical of the Friuli area, in the cellars of the ancient Villa. The vine training, made to grow high quality grapes, the arrangement of the winery and the thirty-year experience of Cristian Beltrame in the oenological field allow us to obtain great territorial, expressive, refined and long-lived wines.

The Company philosophy is focused on the total respect for Nature while growing the grapes, respecting the biodiversity of the flora and fauna within our vineyards. In the cellar, we simply wait for the correct ageing of our wines patiently kept in our barrels. Our focus is to obtain fine and elegant wines so, in the cellar, we do the fewer possible operations just to respect what Nature offers us in every single vintage. Our greatest goal is to preserve all the characteristics of our grapes during their transformation into wine.

Business News Japan interview to Mr. Cristian Beltrame the Co-Owner.

Do you already export to JAPAN ? If yes, where ? If no, what type of importers & distributors are you looking for in JAPAN ?

No, we are not selling in Japan yet. I am interested in an importer who sells wines in the HoReCa market not in GDO.

What is the most unique and qualitative part of your products, different from competitors ?

In our wines people can really taste our terroir made of our mineral soil, clay, and of our microclimate, we are located,  by air, 15 km from the see and 50 km from the mountains. Our wines are defined, by the most, as didactic wines cause in each bottle you can taste the real typicity of the variety. The most important thing to say is that we produce wines with a very low quantity of sulphites cause they have a great structure due especially to the low production of grapes pro hectare, se they don’t need high volumes of preservatives. You can drink alone a bottle of our wines, you’ll get drunk, but you’ll have no other consequence.

When did you start to export your brand worldwide, and what is your development plan for the next years ?

We begun to sell our wines worldwide in 1995. Our plan for the future is to spread the brand more widely and we would be very proud to plant a flag also in Japan.
