Domaine Cécile Chassagne : A very high quality Taste of Gigondas Wine

Domaine Cécile Chassagne - Business News Japan

Domaine Cécile Chassagne was created in 1998, with a surface of 2,5 acres. Located in the heart of Dentelles de Montmirail, in terraces, the vineyard culminates at around 300 meters of altitude, on the heights of the “lieu-dit” named “le Pourra”.  Her father, Jean-Claude Chassagne, planted the vines in 1970. The grapes used are a combination of Grenache, Mourvedre, and Syrah that is made in the traditional manner without destemming. After a lengthy fermentation in open-top wood tanks, the wine is aged for four months in Allier oak barrels. The consequence is a wine that is medium-bodied, meaty, and elegant, expressing the terroir of Gigondas.

Drinking Gigondas is like touching the sky .To be certain to taste a very high quality wine and spend a pleasant moment around a nice bottle of wine. I highly recommend you to enjoy this nectar, to create the opportunity to make this moment unique and memorable at one and the same time, without waiting any longer. Gigondas is a place where life is pleasant since the ancient times and ‘Carpe Diem” is my motto. As winemaker, my aim is to provide joy and and cheerfulness to lovers of Gigondas wine !

Very recently, Domaine Cécile Chassagne has joined JAPAN Awards 2021 and won two gold medal in this prestigious competition:

Lots of spring flowers, sappy underbrush, and ripe black cherry notes emerge from the 2017 Gigondas from Domaine Cecile Chassange. A cofermented blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, aged in older oak, it displays medium to full body, the charming, moderate depth of the vintage, and ripe, sweet tannins.  Interview of Ms. Cécile Chassagne Owner

Question 1: Do you already export to JAPAN ? If yes, where ? If no, what type of importers & distributors are you looking for in JAPAN ?

Answer : No I don’t export to Japan right now. I already did but many years ago.

I’d like to find an importer specialized in the importation of nice wines, to promote a winery and a winemaker, not huge volumes, but quality wines.

Question 2: What is the most unique and qualitative part of your products, different from competitors ?

Answer : The location of the vineyard is very unique, at 400 meters of altitude, with a view on Dentelles de Montmirail in Gigondas, only terrasses, old vines planted more than 50 years ago.

We have a very low yield, with a nice concentration in the grapes.

It produces a great wine, with soft and silky tannins and a freshness on the finish due to the altitude.

Question 3: When did you start to export your brand worldwide, and what is your development plan for the next years ?

Answer : I started to export my brand in 1998 in the US and Europe. For the next year I’d like to develop my sales in Japan.

Importers and Distributors what are you waiting for !
