Sarl Couvreur Philippart et fils - Business News Japan

Couvreur Philippart is a brand of champagne created by Élisabeth and Jacques Couvreur in 1974. They came from a long line of winegrowers. Their son Emmanuel took over in 1990, and was joined in 2000 by his wife Christelle.

Couvreur Philippart 8.5 hectares family estate covers clay and limestone soils. It is located in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, in the Premier Cru villages of Chigny Les Roses, Écueil, Ludes, and Rilly La Montagne, and in Grand Cru in Verzy and Nogent l’Abbesse.

They cultivate the three main Champagne grape varieties, Chardonnay (28%), Pinot noir (27%) and Pinot meunier (45%). They are in the process of obtaining High Environmental Value (HVE) and Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne (VDC) certification.

Couvreur Philippart champagnes have as common denominator an abundant cloud of fragrant bubbles which transform into a persistent bead which plays with our tongue and our palate in a very sensual way.

The Couvreurs have the passion for their profession and the quality of their champagnes at heart. Very recently, Sarl Couvreur Philippart et fils has been recognized and awarded Two Gold Medal and a Silver Medal by Business News Japan Awards 2020:

Champagne Grande Réserve – PREMIER CRU

Awarded Gold by Business News Japan

Blend of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier 2009/2010, 12 o alcohol. Light golden yellow color and shiny. Powerful and expressive fragrance dominated by aromas of ripe fruit.

A frank and lively mouth, which becomes full and vinous. The aromas of ripe fruit, in harmony with the nose, bring to this wine a great aromatic richness highlighted by an acidity well balanced by the dosage. A long finish, fresh and spicy, very charming.

Champagne Homm’Age – GRAND CRU – BLANC DE NOIRS – 2013

Awarded Gold by Business News Japan

This cuvée is composed only of Pinots Noir, from our plots of Verzy, aged in oak barrels. This 2013 vintage is full of finesse and subtlety.

Champagne Carte d’Or Brut – PREMIER CRU

Awarded Silver by Business News Japan

This cuvée is made up of 40% reserve wine, 8% Pinot Noir, 34% Pinot Meunier and 18% Chardonnay. It leaves us enjoying intense and fruity pleasure.

Bright pale golden yellow color. Expressive, fresh and delicate bouquet, dominated by aromas of white flesh fruits: peach, pear, a lemongrass note and subtle floral notes.

The attack on the palate is supple, rich, fleshy and balanced, where the flavors of stone fruit and the floral character harmonize perfectly. The finish regains bite, and gives this wine a good length on freshness.

Exists in brut Half-bottle, brut Bottle, brut Magnum, semi-dry Half-bottle and semi-dry Bottle.

Interview of Mr. Emmanuel Couvreur – Owner

Question 1: Do you already export to JAPAN ? If yes, where ? If no, what type of importers & distributors are you looking for in JAPAN ?

We are new in export, I participate in 2019 in two master classes in Japan, one in Osaka and the other in Tokyo.

Question 2: What is the most unique and qualitative part of your products, different from competitors ?

Our champagne has existed for more than three generations. We are independent winemakers, certified HVE ( High environmental value).
We cultivate our own vines with respect for biodiversity, water and air.
We pick our grapes and make our wine. Our work is above all a passion.

Our champagne is simply in our image, frank, generous and balanced.

Question 3: When did you start to export your brand worldwide, and what is your development plan for the next years ?

We sell our champagne mainly in France and Europe.
Last year, during my two tastings in Japan, I was seduced by your country and its inhabitants.

I will be happy to participate in the happiness of the Japanese.
