In 1990, Albrecht Schwegler and his wife Andrea founded a winery located in the commune of Korb in the German wine-growing region Wuerttemberg, according to his ideas and free from any prevailing convention. As a connoisseur, inventor and wine pioneer, he established a wine style with his distinctive red cuvées that had never existed in Germany before – and had to allocate the bottles from the start.
Aaron follows Albrecht’s approach and vinifies red and white lace cuvées from the Remstal in 2009 with his wife Julia. Since then, white wines have also been produced. The estate cover nine hectares of vineyards. Natural management takes place with the complete abandonment of artificial fertilizers and conventional pesticides ( pesticides ). The vines are fed exclusively with organic material and species-rich sowing or greening supported. Their wines are left untreated and unadulterated after a long barrel maturation. With the 2019 vintage, they have their sustainable way of working in the vineyard certified.
All of Albrecht’s wines are estate bottlings – wines made from grapes grown in their own vineyard and processed in their own cellar. All wines are basically intended for top selection. The barrels are selected accordingly. Albrecht’s impressive wooden barrel warehouse made of barriques (228 liters) and tonneaux (500 liters), which they only obtain directly from the best French tonnelleries, is renewed once a year for the large cuvées. They always have a respectable number of new, but also second and third-topped wooden barrels: depending on the vintage, grape variety and individual layer, we choose the right barrels from a variety of different types of wood and toasting levels.
Very recently, Weingut Albrecht Schwegler has joined Business News Awards Wines & Spirits Awards 2020 and won Three Gold Medal and Two Gold Medal in this prestigious competition:

Interview of Ms. Julia and Mr. Aaron Schwegler – Owner
Question 1: Do you already export to JAPAN ? If yes, where ? If no, what type of importers & distributors are you looking for in JAPAN ?
We do not export to Japan yet, therefore we are looking for reliable partners with experience in the market.
Question 2: What is the most unique and qualitative part of your products, different from competitors ?
With an absolute aspiration for quality and the certainty, that a great wine is always more than the sum of its parts we founded our own tradition in 1990. Our blends are compositions, which live from its complexity, texture and endurance. The foundation for this are our super small parcels and responsible farmed vineyards in the different terroirs in the Rems valley. Our most important capital is the diversity we can find in our vineyards in the Rems Valley. Starting with planting and in the vineyards, we put the same effort in all our varieties, wishing they might be part of our greatest wine.
All our wines mature in French oak barrels, the red wines up to 24 months, the white wines up to 12 months.
Question 3: When did you start to export your brand worldwide, and what is your development plan for the next years ?
We just started recently to export our wines. The last two decades the winery was lead as a side business, so we hadn´t had enough wine to even think about export any bottle. Since Julia and Aaron took over, the winery has grown to a full time business, so that new markets can be exploited.
