PAOLA SORDO was founded by Giorgio Sordo in honor of his daughter Paola, who represents the fourth generation of the Sordo family. The Sordo family has been tending vines and growing wine for more than a century; Giuseppe Sordo began winemaking around the turn of the century and was succeeded by his son Giovanni and his wife Maria. They bought many vineyards together, including some of the best in the Barolo area, and dubbed them “I Sori.”
THE SORDO FAMILY
For almost a century, GIUSEPPE, GIOVANNI, MARIA, GIORGIO has been cultivating and creating wines. The company was founded by the great-grandfather Giuseppe at the turn of the century, but it was his son Giovanni who “bought several vineyards of Nebbiolo for Barolo – the Sor in Piedmontese language – among the best in the Barolo wine district” “together with his wife Maria, the true witness of the family story”.
THE SORDO ESTATE is located between Castiglione Falletto and Barolo, in the heart of the Langhe, one of Piedmont’s most productive winegrowing districts. The winery is cutting-edge in terms of technology. Its goal is to attain the highest level of quality in every step of the process, from grape harvest to wine aging. “From the harvest until the aging of the wine,” says the winemaker.
SORDO 1912 S.A.S. DI PAOLA SORDO & C. recently participated in JAPAN Awards 2021 and received a Gold Medal Award in this important competition:
