VIGNOBLES GABRIEL & CO / SAS ROBIN : Confidence of a Value, Wine of History

Vignobles Gabriel & Co/SAS Robin  - Business News Japan

The story of Vignobles Gabriel & Co is that of a shared family passion that has culminated in a community dedicated to ethical winemaking. The Right Bank and its treasures are promoted by the winegrowers, who are bound by a charter of commitments. A committed team orchestrates a constant dedication.

Wineries In the 1990s, Gabriel Bruneteau founded the Domaine du Grand Moulin in Saint Aubin de Blaye, 50 kilometers north of Bordeaux, in the heart of the Blaye vineyards. He decided to start a wine trading business after being elected Mayor of Saint Aubin de Blaye! Jean-François Réaud, his great-great-grandson, broadened, diversified, and modernized his grandfather’s work eighty years later.

Jean-François Réaud continued to expand after converting part of his vineyard to organic farming in 2011. Faced with the market demand, he wanted to bring together winemakers from neighboring areas to form a winemaking family, believing that this collaboration would help them improve their wines’ reputation.

This is how Vignobles Gabriel & Co came into being, as a culmination of work started a century ago by Mr Réaud’s great-great-grandfather, Gabriel Bruneteau! Finally, in 2015, Jean-François Réaud purchases « château Haut Sociondo », a Blaye jewel, followed by « Seigneur de la Tour », an AOC Bordeaux.

Vignobles Gabriel & Co has moved away from the traditional wine trading scheme, placing a premium on commitment and loyalty. Collaboration and economic independence, in my opinion, are a guarantee of quality. The number of winegrowers and producers involved in Jean François Reaud’s project has grown from four to twenty.

At Vignobles Gabriel & Co., commitment and loyalty are needed. Around 20 winemakers and producers are cooperating in a friendly and collaborative manner, bound by a contract for a portion or all of their production.

They collaborate in a friendly and cooperative manner, owing to a supplier contract that covers all or part of their issue. And, in many cases, this collaboration goes much further: Château Haut Sociondo, a blaye appellation jewel and a member of Vignobles Gabriel & Co. since 2012, was purchased by Jean-François Reaud in 2015.

As a basis for this collaborative effort, the partner vineyards agree to maintain a code of ethics. The Vignobles Gabriel & Co charter, the product of joint deliberation, sets out the principles to be followed and ensures personalized assistance from vineyard care to winemaking.

The winegrowers who sign it pledge to consistently follow quality standards; this is unmistakably reflected in a focus on their environmental footprint and the practical measures taken to address it.

This charter is a watershed moment for Jean-François Reaud and his partners as they continue to adjust to current and future challenges. Vignobles Gabriel & Co honors the earth’s riches in addition to the diligent efforts of the men and women who tend the vines.

This concept is proudly upheld by all partner holdings, some of which use environmentally sound, organic, and even biodynamic winegrowing methods. From producers to end customers, these commitments form the foundation of a trusting and forward-thinking partnership.

In order to better manage the sales and distribution of its wines, Vignobles Gabriel & Co aspires to negotiate fully and directly with customers. Vignobles Gabriel & Co, in the same sense of independence, has an entirely separate supply chain, with its own bottling line, which allows it to guarantee reliability and responsiveness.

In the form of IFS and BRC international certification, this double assurance is combined with those of traceability and protection.

As a result of being free of the constraints of the Bordeaux wine exchange, Vignobles Gabriel & Co can deliver an extensive, reliable selection of Rive Droite wines that show the character of each estate and the richness of their appellations with precision and authenticity:

The Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, founded in 2009, is a collection of historic Right Bank vineyards with a variety of terroirs. So these grapes have every excuse to create fun, beautiful, and delicious wines, and Vignobles Gabriel & Co is excited to share them with you.

Question 1: Do you already export to JAPAN ? If yes, where ? If no, what type of importers & distributors are you looking for in JAPAN ?

Yes in Tokyo and Osaka. importers for mass distribution. We are looking for importers specializing in organic wines for the cellar catering markets.

Question 2: What is the most unique and qualitative part of your products, different from competitors ?

Our collective Vignobles Gabriel & Co, created by Jean-François Réaud, has existed for more than 20 years. Innovative and participatory, it brings together 34 winegrowers from the Right Bank of Bordeaux thanks to a hybrid model, the right balance between cooperative, merchant and independent winegrowers.

A pioneering approach that reinvents the future of Bordeaux production and distribution. Guided by the passion for our profession, we break the codes of Bordeaux by democratizing access to quality products from independent producers. In 2020, Vignobles Gabriel & Co formalizes its responsible and united commitment by becoming the first French wine actor recognized and certified in favor of fair trade and responsible sectors by the Ecocert Fair For Life certification label.
